RIBA Board and committees

RIBA Board

Following constitutional changes which came into effect in March 2020, a new RIBA Board has been created. It is responsible for the management of the RIBA’s business and its members are the Trustees of the RIBA as a charity. It oversees the RIBA’s main committees, with the exception of the Nominations Committee, which reports to the Council

Committees

Seven main committees and a number of sub-committees develop and advise on policies and activities of the Institute. All main committees report to the RIBA Board, with the exception of the Nominations Committee which reports to the Council. The Audit Committee reports to both the Board and the Council.

The committees advise on the formulation of policy and strategy relevant for their areas, recommending priorities for the business plan and budget (both income and expenditure).

They also review the implementation of Board policies and the progress of work against agreed objectives. They appoint task groups and specialist advisers for relevant projects and subjects.

Following constitutional changes in March 2020, the current committee structure is being reviewed and is expected to change. In addition, a Standards Committee, which will report to the Council, is being set up.
