We all have a role to play in dismantling the discriminatory barriers that are preventing talented people from studying, practising or even appreciating architecture.
As the RIBA’s Chief Executive, I take seriously my responsibility to lead by example in driving necessary change. I believe that honesty and accountability are vital and am pleased to present our first ever inclusion transparency report. This document lays out our inclusion journey so far, some of our key learnings, and our direction of travel. I don’t underestimate the scale of the work that we need to do, but I am hopeful for the future.
While the RIBA has a key leadership role to play, we can’t deliver on our goals without the active involvement of the profession. That’s why today we are launching the RIBA Inclusion Charter: a way for individuals and businesses to pledge their support and commit to actions to help make architecture more inclusive. I have signed up on behalf of the RIBA and I urge you to join me and your peers.
