RIBA celebrates National Apprenticeship Week 2020

03 February 2020

National Apprenticeship Week (3 to 9 February 2020) is an annual initiative which celebrates the value of apprenticeships to individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

Architecture apprenticeships are one of a range of measures to develop a more inclusive architectural profession, as well as bringing a host of other benefits to all those involved.

First introduced in 2018, there are now over 200 architectural apprentices enrolled with nine universities across the UK: London South Bank University, Northumbria University, Oxford Brookes University, De Montfort University, Nottingham Trent University,  Sheffield Hallam University, University of Nottingham, University of Portsmouth and the University of the West of England.

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week we’ve spoken to two practices and their apprentices (GSS Architecture and HLM Architects), as well as the apprenticeships course leader at Oxford Brookes University, to find out the value of apprenticeships to them and the wider profession.

At RIBA, we can support you whether you're looking to become an architecture apprentice, or if you're looking to employ an apprentice at your architecture practice.

RIBA Future Architects also offers information and resources for students and early career architects.

Join our conversations about National Apprenticeship Week 2020 on social media using the hashtags #NationalApprenticeshipWeek, #NAW2020 and #LookBeyond.
