RIBA International

Guidance and advice for those based in the UK or internationally; we also have information for those who are interested in working overseas or becoming a member.

Our purpose

As the international member channel for all RIBA activities, we provide support to our members. Through our work we champion better buildings and places, stronger communities and a sustainable environment. We provide the training, support and recognition that put our members internationally at the top of their profession.

Our three main areas are:

International members

Our work involves collaborating with international institutes of architects and international architectural organisations. This is achieved through promoting design excellence in architecture and creating greater social mobility within the profession.

International relations

We are members of the Commonwealth Association of Architects, International Union of Architects and the Architects Council of Europe (ACE). Our work with these organisations involves developing collaborative projects, supporting global networking, promoting design excellence in architecture and creating greater mobility within the profession.

International trade

Partner organisations we collaborate internationally with include the Department of International Trade (DIT), British Expertise International and China-Britain Business Council (CBBC). We work with these organisations to arrange activities such as trade visits, networking receptions and one-to-one business matchmaking appointments.

Support for members based or wanting to work overseas

We provide support for members based or wanting to work overseas, with four global regions: Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia and Australasia.

Our two regional offices are based in the Gulf and China. There are also six established International Chapters serving local communities of architects across the world and hosting regular events and activities.
